Economic mission to South Africa

June 6 - 13, 2014. An economic mission of Wielkopolska entrepreneurs to the Republic of South Africa (South Africa) took place.

The mission was led by Mr. Mateusz Klemenski, Deputy Marshal of the Wielkopolska Region, and the delegation included representatives of eight Wielkopolska companies, including Elektryk sp. z o.o.

The delegation was accompanied throughout its stay by Dr. Krzysztof Bielaj, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria and head of the Political and Economic Desk.

The purpose of the mission was to create opportunities for direct contact with economic partners in South Africa and to increase the promotional capacity of the region.
During the mission, two economic forums were held in Durban and Nelspruit, during which Greater Durban entrepreneurs had the opportunity to present their offerings to local entrepreneurs and hold a series of business talks.

The delegation met with Mr. Jamese Nxumalo Mayor of Durban City and Mr. Senzo Mchunu Premier of KwaZulu-Natal Province. Mr. Deputy Marshal Mateusz Klemenski invited representatives of the regional and city authorities, together with South African entrepreneurs, to visit Wielkopolska preferably during the fair held in Poznań.


During a visit to Nelspruit, the capital of Mpumalanga Province, the delegation was received by Mr. Eric Kholwane Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, who spoke very positively about the Wielkopolska economy and the very low unemployment rate compared to Africa.


At the end of the mission, the Wielkopolska entrepreneurs met with H.E. Ms. Anna Raduchowska-Brochwicz Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to South Africa, with whom they discussed the conditions for doing business in South Africa and possible support in this regard provided by the Embassy and HRH in Johannesburg.
